Testimonials

  • “As a freshman, I felt like I was drowning in expectations. The MSGC helped me not only stay afloat but actually enjoy my first semester. The weekly check-ins and daily intention setting gave me structure, but in a way that felt empowering — not like a to-do list. I seriously don’t know how I would’ve handled the semester without this group.”

    - Freshman Music Major

  • “I used to beat myself up every time I fell short of a goal. This group taught me how to celebrate wins and how to be kind to myself when things didn’t go perfectly. The mental fitness tools were a game changer for how I practice and perform.”

    - Sophomore Performance Major

  • “Before this, my mom was still helping me plan my week. This semester I learned how to structure my own time in a way that felt good and worked. MSGC helped me build that confidence — and now I’m planning next semester on my own. Huge win.”

    Freshman Music Ed Major

  • "The weekly Zooms helped me set intentions that actually made sense for me, and the accountability buddy system kept me on track without guilt. It’s like what I always wished studio class could be.”

    -Grad Performance Student

  • “I didn’t realize how isolated I’d been until I joined MSGC. Having a space where I could show up and be real — without pretending everything was fine — was something I didn’t even know I needed. The weekly check-ins became a rhythm that kept me grounded, and the friendships that formed were unexpected and really meaningful.”

    -Junior Music Ed Major

  • “What made MSGC different was the energy of everyone wanting to grow... It felt like the kind of support I wish school actually offered.”

All the details…

  • Mental Fitness for Resilience

During the first Zoom meeting of each month, Rusty will discuss topics and lead exercises related to mental fitness, including performance anxiety, addressing negative self-talk, building self-efficacy, and similar topics.

    Goal-Setting and Accountability

Zoom meetings for the rest of the month will focus on accountability around the goal-setting process. Members will identify semester goals, create a plan of action, and identify weekly habits and action steps that will lead to success. The weekly group accountability Zoom meeting will help members recalibrate to their semester plan; students will identify where they got off track the previous week and set intentions for the following week.

  • Members share weekly goals and intentions in a Discord server for accountability and support. We celebrate wins, support each other through challenges, and hold each other accountable for achieving the goals we set.

  • All members receive a digital copy of a workbook designed to help students establish a vision for their ideal career and set goals that are aligned with that vision.

The workbook offers exercises for self-reflection and prompts for goal setting and habit tracking!
